Global Warming (Problem-Solution model essay)
One of the
biggest problems facing the world today is global warming.
Many
experts believe that our production of carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse
gases is heating the atmosphere, and this could be very dangerous
for human
life. This essay will examine the problem of global warming and
suggest
some solutions for it.
Many
problems could result from global warming. One of the biggest is
rising sea
level. This could result in the flooding of low lying coastal areas and
cities,
such as Egypt, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh. Another problem is
changes in
weather patterns. Many areas of the world are experiencing
increased
hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters. A final issue
associated
with this phenomenon is the negative effect on animals. Fish
populations
could be effected, while some insects which spread disease might
become
more common.
There are
several things we can do to deal with global warming. One
answer is
to stop making C02. We can do this by switching from oil, coal and
gas to
renewable energy. A second solution is to plant more trees. Trees absorb
C02 and
produce oxygen, which is not a greenhouse gas. A third idea is to use
less
energy and recycle more products. If we use less energy and are more
environmentally
friendly, the earth’s temperature may not rise too much.
In
conclusion, making small changes now in the way we live means
avoiding
huge changes in the future. Scientists, governments and individuals
must work
together to overcome this serious
threat.
PROBLEM SOLUTION ESSAY
HOW TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF ENERGY CRISIS?
Man
employs technology to meet his needs or maintain his standard of living.
However, today’s high technology uses so much energy that soon all our resources
will be exhausted.Without such energy, industrial production will decrease,
agricultural output will drop, transport will be restricted, and standard of
living will decline. In other words, the world is on the verge of an energy
crisis unless certain measures are taken. The two most commonly proposed
solutions to this global problem are reducing the energy waste and developing
cheap and convenient energy.
The
first solution, reducing the amount of energy waste, is possible to do in a
variety of ways. Some of these methods are to improve the efficiency of
appliances and vehicles and to encourage people to use more public
transportation, bicycle. Such methods would certainly mean more energy saved.
Nevertheless, such efficiency and conservation methods are only temporary
solutions and do not answer the question what will happen when we have run out of
fossil fuels. Besides, not all nations are aware of any recycling or efficiency
methods.Neither do they have the technology and money to implement these
methods.
The
second and a more reasonable solution is using a cheap and convenient
alternative energy. This is what scientists have been working on for years.
Such sources as solar energy, wind power and wave power have proved to be
insufficient or inefficient. It is only nuclear power that remains to be the
sole alternative energy to scarce fossil fuels and to meet the world’s growing
energy requirement. To illustrate, it is possible to obtain 3 weeks of
electricity for a city with a population of 1000, using 20 tonnes of nuclear
energy, whereas 120.000 tonnes of coal are required to generate the same amount
of energy. Unfortunately, it is true that nuclear plants pose risks to the
environment and people. However, the advantages of nuclear energy outweighs its
drawbacks because nuclear plants are not only economical but
also
more efficient in comparison to our finite sources.
In
conclusion, since power demand is increasing while our sources have been
decreasing steadily, it is essential that a permanent and efficient solution be
implemented to maintain our standard of living. Reducing energy could be a
possible solution but it can only extend the life of fossil fuels, which will
inevitably run out in time. Therefore, it is necessary to exploit the energy
stored in the atom. This provides a long-term and economical solution to the
problem. If we address the problem with short-sighted solutions, their long-term
consequences are bound to be very undesirable.
MODEL PROBLEM SOLUTION ESSAY
Obesity in Children
The last years in the whole world, the obesity in children has been increasing in an alarming way. Nowadays, many countries are trying to do something to make their children’s life healthier. Obesity affects children psychologically and physically. That is why we need to change this situation. The problem of obesity in children can be solved by raising awareness among parents, providing an exercise program for elementary school, and doing a nutritional culture at an early age.
There are many things that we can do to stop obesity, but the most important is to raise awareness among parents. Parents affect their children a lot, and they shape children’s future. This starts at the early ages of children, even when they are small babies. Generally, parents want their children to eat more than enough. However, this causes children to acquire wrong eating habits at the early childhood and affects their whole life. When children are born, parents should be informed about the healthiest eating style for their children.
Another solution is an exercising program. It should be implemented in
elementary school as a complement to the nutritional culture for children. This
program must arouse a sport spirit in them through sport clubs, which are going
to be free, but these activities will be obligatory in public schools and with
a minimum of 4 hours per week. It is certain that this can work.
The other important thing to do is creating a nutritional
culture at an early age. That is to implement in elementary school certain
rules about the kind of food that can be sold, such as just fruit and
nutritious meals. It is difficult to achieve this goal, but it is not
impossible with the help of the government.
As we saw, obesity in children can be solved by making parents more aware of the problem, taking action in the nutritional education of children, and in the way that they see sports. As a result, children in the world are going to grow healthier and with a different mentality about what they should and shouldn’t eat and what they have to do to keep their body and mind healthy.

HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY?
|
Many students immediately panic when they
are faced with the task of writing an essay. While they may have many ideas
when they discuss a topic, picking up pen and paper seems to dry up all
ideas. Some students aren't even sure what an essay is. Basically, an essay
is an organized way to express an opinion and prove that it's valid. This can
take a variety of forms, but the standard format starts with an introduction,
has a body, and ends with a conclusion. There are a few simple steps to
writing an essay.
First,
students must generate ideas. They have to think about what they know about a
topic and what they want to write. Students do this in different ways. Some
students do brainstorming. That is, they sit with a piece of paper and write
words and try to relate them to other words. Some students just make a list
of ideas. Other students find they need to do some prewriting because they
think better when they are writing out their ideas. Some students just sit
and think and get the ideas sorted out in their minds. One way is not better
than another way. Everyone is different, so everyone writes in a different
way. For example, my friend Susan likes to do prewriting. She sets her timer
for 15 minutes and then she writes everything she can think of about the
topic for that time. When the buzzer goes off, she stops and looks at what
she has written. She underlines the ideas that she thinks are Good. This
works very well for her, but it doesn't work well for me at all because I
hate to do prewriting. I just sit and think about what I want to write until
an idea comes to me. The important thing is not the method but the results.
Sometimes, students think that the ideas have to be perfect from the
beginning, but this isn't true. Sometimes they might find that their ideas
need revision or that some can be eliminated. That's ok. Once they have
generated ideas, they have a starting point so they can begin to write, and
that is what is important.
Next,
students need to organize their ideas. They need to make sure that they have
a statement of opinion, and then they need to put their supporting ideas into
some kind of order. That is, they need to decide what will come first and so
forth. For example, if students are writing about history, most of the time
they will organize their ideas chronologically because that's the way that
people usually think about history--from past to present, But, it's not
always that simple. John wrote a paper about the problems adoptive children
have. He made a list of four problems, but then he had to decide which
problem was the most serious and which the least. Then, he had to make
another decision. Should he put the biggest problem first or last? Sometimes
a writer wants to build up to something big, and other times a writer wants to
hit the reader right away with something important. John decided to put his
biggest problem last. Students need to look carefully at their ideas and
think about what will make the strongest paper--and the most interesting
paper.
Last,
students need to write. This seems easy enough, but many students delay this
part of the paper until the last minute. When I say write, I mean write the
first draft because, whenever possible, it's good to save time to write, look
at it and make corrections, and then write it again. Students need to give
themselves time--especially in the beginning--to learn from their writing. If
they wait until an hour before class, the paper becomes a burden instead of
an opportunity to learn and share ideas. Sally, for example, had a 1000 word
essay due at 11:00 in her English 101 class. She waited until 9:00 PM the
night before to begin. By then, she was so nervous about getting the paper
finished on time that she couldn't think of anything to write about. She kept
thinking about the F she was going to get and what it would do to her grade
point average. Students should just start writing and not expect a perfect
product the first time, but even an imperfect paper is better than no paper.
In
conclusion, writing an essay is really not so difficult. Students simply need
to have a plan for writing. First, they need to find a way to generate ideas,
and then they need to organize these ideas in some way that makes sense to
them. Lastly, but most importantly, the students have to sit down and pick up
their pencils and begin to write. The more students practice writing, the
easier it will become because it's really only thinking and sharing
ideas—something they do all of the time.
